Awards 2016 – Site Manager of the Year

The Site Manager of the Year Award was presented by Robert Mewes, Acting Head of Surveying.

Tony Northcott – Kier Construction, Site Manager at Exeter St Leonards Primary School (Winner)
In delivering the primary school expansion project for Devon County Council, Tony led his team to achieve a 10 out of 10 score for the community section of their considerate contractors scheme visit contributing to an overall project score of 45 out of 50. The assessor noted in their report that this was ‘an exceptional site with lots of thought and care for the workforce, the community, the disadvantaged and the environment’. Engagement activities included educational bridge building with year four students plus hoarding with a rainforest theme, as decorated by the students.
Chris Cooper, Project officer for Devon County Council commented on the ‘exceptional quality of the finished building for which Tony and his team deserve special commendation.

The Farrans Waste Transfer Station Team, Mark Kendal, Andrew Purdy, Paul Shoebridge and Jason Starling (Highly Commended)
The Farrans team faced many hurdles in delivering a controversial set of 5 waste transfer stations across the county for Essex County Council. However their positivity and ‘can do’ attitudes resulted in all schemes being successfully delivered.
The team were nominated by Essex County Council Project Sponsor Christina Halls who in her statement noted ‘these are the best site agents I have worked with and I truly thank them for making my job so much easier! They were all a pleasure to work with’
