The big picture vision of a complete new 21st Century Cathedral School -with a music specialism- has been achieved- the primary school, this project, was the final piece of the jigsaw and successfully integrated into the underutilised Central Library semi-basement space adjacent to the Cathedral. Some compromises were required due to the buildings Grade I listed status, however, the building’s internal listed fixtures and fittings have been imaginatively integrated to serve the needs of the school.
The Panel thought it stood out as an excellent example of an imaginative project helping to transform and re-invigorate a Grade I building with a new and sustainable use (along with it’s young users!).
