This is a delightful building whose design has elegantly responded to the challenges of a steeply sloping site, its location in a conservation area and the different demands of the community and learning. Circulation and access are particularly well resolved taking maximum advantage of the change in levels, with all classrooms having access to outdoor space. The school has a striking presence on the road frontage, with a light, welcoming foyer leading to community and administration accommodation. The integrity of vision is carried through to every detail and the central ‘street’ creates an uplifting environment with opportunity for both sharing and seclusion.
