The Kirk Michael Trust took on this project to restore the historical old Kirk and graveyard into a museum now housing some of the restored old grave slabs protecting them from further weather damage. The panel were impressed with the way the client raised the profile of this site to obtain the necessary funding to restore what was a ruined shell into a superb church and informative museum which is now a well-established tourist attraction following its restoration.

This project was commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council to upgrade the existing tower to comply with guidelines with the work needing to be carried out ahead of the European Championships in Glasgow this year. The judging panel were impressed with the way the design team and contractor met the client’s requirements working to a tight budget and timescale to produce an excellent refurbishment of the tower in order to meet the requirements of the Rowing Federation in time for the European Championships.
