This exemplary building is not only highly sustainable but it also elegantly creates a civic presence with a welcoming and uplifting sequence of community spaces. The beautifully balanced design combines a new leisure centre with business and civic facilities and has been very skillfully constructed.
The many different uses have been very successfully incorporated into a single building with two architectural practices adopting a common set of details and design philosophy. The approach along a short tree lined boulevard helps to link the development with the existing fabric of the town. It has created a new and distinctive location within Redcar, one with a strong sense of community adding definition to the existing urban core.
