There will be an Technical Meeting jointly held with CIBSE HCNE at The Counting House on Tuesday 3rd December 2019, followed by Christmas Lunch.

In the morning there will be a presentation on Potential Changes and updates to the Building Regulations, specifically Part L by Hywel Davies, Technical Manager at CIBSE. You can download a draft copy of the agenda.

Hywel’s presentation will look at the current consultation on Government plans for the Future Homes Standard as well as the broader regulatory background to building regulations in response to the Grenfell disaster and climate change concerns. The Future Homes Standard consultation package is the first stage of a two-part consultation about proposed changes to Part L of the Building Regulations. With a legal target to reduce UK greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, government has committed to introducing the Future Homes Standard in 2025. This consultation sets out what the Government think a home built to the Future Homes Standard, with an average 75- 80% reduction in carbon emissions than one built to current energy efficiency requirements. It will also consider what we can learn from this consultation about the likely trajectory for non-domestic buildings.

Attendance at the meeting is free but if you want to stay for lunch there is a charge (non-refundable).
