SPACES AGM 3rd October 2019 – Calling Notice

Dear Members

The Annual General Meeting and Technical Presentation, will be held on Thursday 3rd October 2019 at Autodesk Small Heath Business Park, Talbot Way, Birmingham, B10 0HJ. You can download a copy of the agenda.

Following changes to membership categories, and allowing those working in the public sector (with a gov.uk email address) free membership, it has been required to make some changes to the By-Laws as well as some other updates, these were approved by the Board on the 17th May, and will require ratifying at the AGM. You can download a copy of the By-Laws here. If you wish to view the 2015 version of the By-Laws you can do so here.

The following positions are available .
i. Director of Finance (2 year term) – Vacant
ii. Director of Scrutiny (2 year term) – Vacant (Mark Dunne is currently co-opted by the board and has agreed to stand)
iii. Advisors: Membership (2 year term) – Vacant
iv. Advisor: Marketing and Communication (2 year term) – Paul Inch Needs is currently co-opted by the board and has agreed to stand.
v. Advisor: Technical – To be elected at the AGM for a 2 years term – Vacant
vi. Advisor: Events Coordinator(s) (2 year term) – Greg Keeling (Study Day) has agreed to stand and Vacant (Yearbook and Awards)

We thank Nick Jakes for his work with the Midlands Hub and James Bourne for his work as Head of Profession – Engineering and Leading on the Yearbook and Awards.

Any member can nominate themselves for one of the roles above. A nomination must be supported and seconded, and received by the SPACES Manager, at least 28 days before the AGM. Nominated candidate must supply an overview of what they would bring to the role and written consent that he or she is willing to serve, if elected. Please email these to Fiona by Thursday 5th September 2019. Papers and nominations will be circulated week beginning 16th September.

The Heads of Profession and Hub Coordinators are Board nominated for a three year term. There are two positions vacant for HoPs and six positions vacant in the hubs:
i. Head of Profession – Architecture – Vacant
ii. Head of Profession – Project Management – Vacant
iii. Hub Coordinator Southeast – Vacant
iv. Hub Coordinator Midlands – Vacant
v. Hub Coordinator Northeast – Vacant
vi. Hub Coordinator Northwest – Vacant
vii. Hub Coordinator Wales – Vacant
viii. Hub Coordinator Scotland – Vacant

The AGM will be held within the Technical Presentation Day. We are really pleased that this will be held at Autodesk Office in Birmingham. The day will include a tour of the 3D Factory and a presentation on ‘Future of making’ and Industry Trends. The draft agenda for the day will be:
10:00 – 10:30 – Arrival and refreshments
10:30 – 10:45 – Welcome and get ready for the tours
10:45 – 11:45 – Tours
11:45 – 12:30 – AGM
12:30 – 13:15 – Lunch and networking
13:15 – 14:30 – ‘Future of making’ and industry trends
14:30 – 15:00 – Closing
